Teens will feel comfortable in a room built specifically for them. The more welcoming the colors are, the more that they will be comfortable in inviting their friends over. You realized that they are not young kids anymore and any standard kids bedding set that you choose might not fit them. Once their friends have seen the room and liked it, the more they would feel energized whenever they come to their rooms.
Let them choose their own designs. Give them the sample pamphlets so they can study them for a few days. No matter how easy it may seem, teens find it very hard to choose even the top 3 colors for their room. Just make sure you tell them the budget so they would know their limitations as well. I have found that getting teenage boys to choose their boys bedding is easier than the other way around. Help them by giving tips and take them to display centers for them to see more inspirations.
Their decision making may take several days or even weeks In time they would know which one to take out from their choices and which to leave behind to place inside the room.Once they have chosen the colors they want for the room, it will be easier to choose the decorations for the room.A nice looking carpet can compliment the beauty of the room. A carpet can make the room a little bigger. You can either buy new furnishings for the room or just save money buy painting the objects inside the room to match the new walls. Girls especially love this idea to match other items of their room to their girls bedding. It give them a sense of independence.
If they opt not to change their bed, you can just suggest to have a new bedside table or a new lamp. Since the teenager will need a lot of studying in high school, book cases are a must.Ask your kid if she would want wood or plastic cabinets. Teens and clutter go together and you can eliminate this if you have enough storage for the teenager.
You may give them tips on how to properly organize things by way of color coding. Aside from the beauty of the project once it is done, it is the relationship that has grown which is more important. This is the best time to bond not only you and your teenager but the whole family as well.
